EXPERIENCE COMES IN HANDY FOR EX-STRIPPER

You can take the girl from the strip, but not the strip from the girl. Fired from
an office job, a former exotic dancer has returned to what she knows best -
striptease. Only this time, Mary Taylor, 43, is showing other women how to
sexily shed for their men.

Clothed under the banner of Live Girl Productions Inc., Taylor runs "Peel and
Play" workshops and house parties and "Blushing Bride" bridal showers.

Costs range from $30 to $60 a person. The first surprise is no nudity in class. Instead, Taylor talks about eroticism and fantasies, shows how to set the mood for seduction, pick a tantalizing costume and select the right music before demonstrating her sensual repertoire of gyrations. She even brings along a six-foot "spongy" mannequin named Bob to lap dance on.

"No Nudity" There's no nudity. I just show everyone how to do it and then
get each of them to try. It's great fun. The women have a ball," she says.
Bookings are busting out. "I rented a booth at the Toronto Bridal Show and
573 women filled out ballots," she says. "There are a lot of women out there who always wanted to know how to strip for their partners. Now they have the chance to find out."

Taylor, a divorcee, started peeling in Toronto clubs at the age 19, making up to $1,200 a week. She also toured Canada for nine years as Ciara Love,
earning up to $2,200 a week. "I've been through the dancing mill," she says. Two years ago, after 21 years of strip, she quit, complaining that the entertainment factor had been removed. "We used to dress in great
costumes. Now the girls have nothing on when they get on stage and want to get off as soon as possible to get back to lap dancing," she says.

Taylor, who owns a 2,750 sq. ft. home, a wardrobe that resembles a clothing store and drives a Mercedes, took a job with an export company but was fired after a year. "It didn't work out. As a dancer I had freedom," she says. "I could come and go as I wanted. Looking at four walls was really different". For the first time in her life, she claimed unemployment insurance and attended government programs. She was advised that self-employment was her best bet and took a course on how to set up a small business.

Taylor does more than share her secrets on intimacy and passion. She's the director with the Exotic Dancer's Alliance, which advises dancers on health and safety issues, has written an autobiographical novel called Live Girl, and is working on a documentary history of exotic entertainment in Canada.
